The Beauty of Sulawesi at "Sorowako in Pictures 2008"
Sulawesi's beauty of nature and its public activities were recorded in 150 photos and 31 paintings exhibited at "Sorowako in Pictures 2008" on November 21-30, at Gedung Ontaeluwu, Sorowako. Sorowako Photographers Society (SPS) in collaboration with Sorowako Painting Club organized this exhibition themed "Alam dan Budaya Sulawesi".
Since 2007, photo exhibition became SPS' routine agenda and a kind of media to show their works and also a media for SPS members mostly working in a mining company to interact with artists. Officially opened by Chico D. Bangun, Chief Operation Officer PT INCO as the main sponsor, the event presented photographs made by 50 members of SPS and a guest photographer, Tigor Edward Siahaan. The opening ceremony was attended by Kepala Dinas Pendidikan, Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Luwu Timur Drs. Syahidin Halun M.Si. The opening was enlivened by contemporary dance and tradtional bamboo music performance from Matano.
In addition to photo exhibition, there was also Photography Coaching Clinic by Agustinus Sidarta. To attract more visitors coming to this event, there were such other activities as blood donor service and various contests for children. nana

KPC Held Their First Photo Exhibition
More than 70 photos made by members of Karawang Photographer Community (KPC) were exhibited in "Open House" event held by Ign Slamet Riyadi Karawang school. It was the first exhibition held by KPC. No special theme was applied to the exhibition which took place on November 26-28 at Ign Slamet Riyadi school area. Several photos with such categories as landscape, human interest, portrait, macro, still life, digital imaging, culture, architect and model were available to enjoy.
Uniquely, no curatorial process was carried out for this exhibition, meaning that all photos made by members were showed. This exhibition was an arena for KPC to introduce their community and to embrace new members. Visitors were enjoying their photos, even an art teacher was interested in painting one of the photos on show. nana

"Exit the Box" Perhimpunan Fotografi Tarumanagara
Photos with various compositions of lines, color, and objects were showed at main atrium EX Plaza, Jakarta, on a photo exhibition themed "Exit the Box." It was held by Perhimpunan Fotografi Tarumanagara (PFT) on November 21-23, and aimed to introduce their works and the community itself to public. This exhibition presented something trivial which was sometimes overlooked.
Sixty photos on show were curated by Yasser S Malik (painter), Arif Aditya (lecturer at Tarumanagara University) and Ray Bachtiar (photographer). PFT also distributed free catalog containing 70 photos made by members of PFT. nana
