FBI Shooting at Belinyu
Fotografer Bangka Island (FBI) was once again organizing their
hunting session. It went on national holiday, July 20, and took
place at Belinyu. At first they wanted to shoot at Toboali. Due
to some obstacles, they canceled it and chose Belinyu as their
second option. Romodong beach, Penyusuk and Lampu island
were their destination.
The first spot was Romodong beach. Having been
through two-hour journey, they arrived at this beach. Taking
the advantage from the hot weather on the spot, some
photographers were shooting IR photography. From Romodong,
they moved to Penyusuk beach. Unfortunately, when they
got there, rain fell. It made them not to continue their
photo session. But some were still photographing. Their last
destination was Lampu island. They must transfer there using
a fisherman's boat. At the island, they were taking pictures and
had a barbeque time as well. Haryadi

Nikon Unveiled D300s & D3000
In a move that won't surprise anyone that has been listening
out for rumors, Nikon has launched the D300s, a refreshed
version of its successful mid-level DSLR, the D300. Compared
to the D300, It offers full 720p HD video recording, a faster 7

Built upon the widely acclaimed D300, the D300s
incorporates the same DX-format 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor,
professional 51-point autofocus system and commended
EXPEED image processing in a discrete compact body. The
D300s comprehensively extends DSLR HD movie capture by
adding external stereo sound input, autofocus capability and
premieres in-camera movie editing.
The camera inherits the groundbreaking imaging
technologies from the D300 such as Scene Recognition System
with 1005 pixel RGB colour metering, and class-leading
autofocus performance from the 51-Point Multi-CAM3500
autofocus system, which together deliver accurate autofocus,
auto exposure and auto white balance control.
The D300S will be available in two kit configurations: AFS DX
NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-4.5 VR and the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-

take great pictures, including the new Guide Mode, which lends
a smart helping hand to new D-SLR users, and an extensive
Retouch Menu, enabling consumers to edit photos, even without
a computer.
The Guide Mode, easily accessed by the Mode dial on the
top of the camera, displays a variety of shooting situations via
the LCD screen, indicating the most appropriate settings for a
particular scenario. Users can also see sample photos on the
LCD screen, which illustrate the effects of different photo-taking
techniques.
D3000 uses Nikon's extensive in-camera Retouch Menu,
which allows users to easily apply a variety of fun and dramatic
effects to their images even when away from a computer.
The D3000 introduces a new Miniature effect, which changes
the appearance of distant subjects to look like close-ups of
miniature models. The D3000 also inherits the Soft Filter and
Color Outline Retouch options from the D5000, allowing users
to express their photography in a new and artistic way.
The D3000 also makes use of Nikon's Active D-Lighting
system, which automatically compensates to reveal veiled
details in shadows and highlights in high-contrast situations.
The D3000 outfit, including the AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-
5.6G VR image stabilization lens, is scheduled to be available in
late August 2009 at an estimated selling price of US$ 599.95.

A Photo Hunting by
FNers of Germany &
Netherlands in Stuttgart
Though FN is officially based in Indonesia,
some FNers outside Indonesia gathered
together in Stuttgart, Germany. They
are the FNers who live in Germany and
Netherlands. Twenty six photographers were
hunting in that city from 25 to 26 of July.
Just like the previous year, they had
a problem with time, place and fund. But,
through several discussions, this year's
hunting could run well. Twenty six was a big
number if compared to the usual hunting.
Usually, only two to five people join such
event.
In 2008, there had been three themes
that they brought about: "3 Titik (3 Spots),"
"Shadow & Reflection" and "Nightshot."
However, to bring it broader and more
global, they made only one theme in this
year's hunting. It was "Stuttgart in Your
Eyes." This theme was applied in three
sessions: street, nightshot and strobist.
Practically, though it was broader and more
global, it was harder for them because most
of them do not live in that city.
Nevertheless, they tried hard to find,
explore and capture everything new to
their eyes. This became the mission of
this hunting; they want to inspire every
FNer, wherever they live, to keep finding,
exploring and capturing every new things in
front of them. Lay Kana

Sentra Photo Event

Sentra Photo Event presented by Sentra
Digital - online photography community
and online camera shop in Surabaya - was
held on July 24. This gathering packed with
photo hunting took place at Food Festival,
Pakuwon City (Laguna), Surabaya. The
event was held at night making it different
from other events.
Before the photo session began,
participants were given a short course
related to camera's features and supporting
tools for night shooting. Sujianto and Totok,
the judges for the photo competition,
delivered the subject matters. The low light
at night did not hinder the participants from
capturing four models during the photo
session. On the contrary, the night scene
challenged them to give their best shot. Slamet R.

Capturing Model
on the Street

A model was sleeping on the street. Don't
believe it? It really happened during a street
hunting held on July 19. The hunting was
coordinated by 6 members of Fotografer.net
from Jakarta Barat. It started with gathering
and ended with street hunting which took
place at Tanjung Duren, Jakarta Barat area,
and Sunda Kelapa harbor. Although it was a

Enjoy 3D Images with
Naked Eyes
Fujifilm announced
the launch of new
imaging technology:
the "FinePix Real
3D System".
The World's first
three dimensional
(3D) digital
imaging system that lets you enjoy three
dimensional images without the need to
wear special 3D glasses. The FinePix Real
3D system incorporates a 3D digital camera
"FinePix Real 3D W1", a 3D picture viewer
"FinePix Real 3D V1", and 3D prints.
The Real 3D W1 camera features the
newly developed "Real 3D Lens System."
To achieve a natural, 3D image, it was
necessary to layer together two images,
so two Fujinon lenses were installed.
A 3x optical zoom, deemed difficult
to achieve in 3D photography, is also
possible. Moreover, the "RP (Real Photo)
Processor 3D" synchronizes data passed
to it by the two lenses and two CCD
sensors, to determine shooting conditions
such as focus, brightness and tonality to
instantaneously blend this information into
a single symmetrical image, for both stills
and movies.
This camera also brings new
possibilities in 2D photography. You can
really take advantage of the fact that this
is actually two digital cameras in one. The
"Advanced 2D Mode" uses Dual Capture
simultaneous shooting which lets users
take two different shots simultaneously by
pressing the shutter once. With "Tele+Wide
Shooting", it is possible to take a closeup
photo of the subject and, at the same
time, a photo with a wider span - just by
changing the settings of the two lenses.
With "Colour Mode" Dual Shooting users
can take photos of the same scene with
different color tonalities.
This is a good-looking camera,
with cutting-edge style. The sleek metal
sliding cover which protects the two
lenses is specially formed so that it can
be firmly gripped with both hands. The
newly developed 2.8-inch Real 3D LCD
monitor displays natural and beautiful 2D
and 3D images, enabling you to compose
and playback your pictures easily. The
FinePix Real 3D W1 will be available from
September 2009. Pricing will be announced
nearer to the date of the launch. dpreview.com
