Canon & Fotografer.net (Amusing) Gathering in Yogyakarta

As scheduled, Canon & Fotografer.net (FN) gathering took place on May 8 at Bamboo Resto, Jl. Palagan Tentara Pelajar, Yogyakarta. About 70 FNers (FN members) who mostly came from Yogyakarta were about fulfilling the restaurant at 8 pm.

Because it was held on Friday, most of them attended this event after having their all-day-long activities at the office, campus or school. For that, at the beginning, fatigue faces were inside the room. Eagerly, after they had dinner and listened to Aam Ito Tastomo's (Hisfa Yogyakarta) photo sharing, laughter exploded. His amusing presentation changed those fatigue faces all of a sudden.

A beautiful MC, Rachel, guided the whole series of schedule. A photography lecturer of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, Risman Marah, gave a welcoming speech in an excellently presented sense of humor. Prior to it, Misbachul Munir presented his photography project, and Mohammad Noor Ghiffari (Kopata) shared his landscape photos. The whole things lasted at 10.30 pm. Cindy

Capturing Krakatau

The activity of Krakatau recently inspired some photography lovers in Lampung to organize a photo hunting to Krakatau. Thirteen participants took part in this activity on May 2 to 3. At first, some participants were not sure to join this but their curiosity encouraged them to be part of this hunting.

Saburai court was the meeting point. From here they went to Canti, Kalianda. It took 3 hours to sail across from Canti dock to Krakatau. They were having a discussion about photography during the trip.

For safety reason, they landed at Krakatau Tua island (4 km across the Anak Krakatau). As soon as they landed, participants were searching for their best position for shooting Krakatau. The dangerous lava was the perfect prey for the photographers. But it was not the only object. They also captured the activities of people living near by Krakatau.

General Electric Packs 100 DVDs in a Disc

Our daily optical discs are CD (Compact Disc) and DVD (Digital Versatile/Video Disc). CD can load memory up to 700MB, while DVD 4GB. Above these technologies, HD (High Devinition) DVD can load 20GB memory, and Blu-ray disc loads 25GB and 50GB.

As has been planned, in a conference in Orlando this month, General Electric (GE) will show off its recent technology called micro-holograph disc. This disc can load memory up to 500GB, equivalent to 100 DVDs – can save your high definition movie collections, which can be played on the same hardware and format as CD, DVD and Blu-ray can.

If in the older technologies, information is written only on the surface of the disc, in this micro-holographic disc, it is stored in three dimensions. GE increases the amount of light reflected on the disc through holograms. The higher reflectivity that can be achieved, the more capacity for the disc. Later on, you can buy this disc in retail easily and affordably.

TweetPhoto for Twitter

TweetPhoto has introduced a new, free photo sharing service for Twitter, which is claimed to "revolutionise photo sharing". TweetPhoto allows users to easily upload and automatically publish links to photos on Twitter.

The new service boasts many toolsets currently unavailable on other sites which make photo sharing on Twitter convenient and transparent, the company says. "As more people use the service the velocity of the social river of tweets increases exponentially. This makes it difficult to view every tweet, especially the ones with links to photos. TweetPhoto was specifically designed to meet this challenge," stated Rodney Rumford, co-founder of TweetPhoto.

TweetPhoto improves the photo consumption experience by extending the life of photos beyond the tweet. This empowers users to view photos shared by the people they follow on Twitter so they never miss a photo again. Twitter users can get started at http://tweetphoto.com by entering their Twitter username and password.
