Hunting with Care
by School Students
Though most of the members of this club are students of
elementary, junior high and senior high schools, but they have
the same vision and mission on photography. Though they only
have phone or compact cameras, they never stop to express
their thoughts through their creative ideas. This club is named
as the Repoeblik Bata Merah Photography Club (the Republic of
Clay Brick Photography Club) or shortened to RBMPC.
On Sunday, August 9, RBMPC held a Hunting with Care for
the Galuh Foundation - a Mental Health Rehabilitation Center
in Narogong, Bekasi. There were 11 students from Jakarta and
Bekasi participated.
In this hunting, instead of molesting or exploiting
the people in the rehabilitation center, these children were
aiming to express their feeling of care and friendship. Beside
photographing, they donated some of their pocket money
as a concrete dedication to our unfortunate friends on the
rehabilitation center.

Goes Beyond Low Light Photography
with Sony TX1 & WX1
Sony goes beyond the ability of digital
compact camera in low light shooting
scenario with the development of back
illuminated CMOS sensor. According to
Sony, its latest technology which also
called as "Exmor R" sensor offers lowlight
performance with approximately
twice the sensitivity of traditional
CMOS technology. The technology
comes in two new digital cameras. The
Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 and DSC WX1 are
claimed to be the first to use "Exmor
R" sensor. This technology improves
shooting in low-light scenarios,
enhances image clarity and reduces
grain.
TX1 is a touch screen camera with 4x zoom lens (35-
140mm equivalent). This 10.2MP camera has a slim profile of
1.65 cm. WX1 is also 10.2MP camera. The WX1 camera features
a Sony G lens with a wide angle 24-120mm 5x optical zoom.
This lens' f/2.4 maximum aperture offers nearly twice the light
gathering capability of conventional lenses, and works together
with the "Exmor R" imager and low-light shooting modes to
provide low-light photography beyond the abilities of other
compact cameras.
With HD video capability, these cameras record HD
movies in 720p high definition MPEG4 format. In addition to
their low light performance, these new cameras also include
Sony's Sweep Panorama and 10 frames per second burst
shooting features. Sweep Panorama mode lets you reach
beyond the traditional wide-angle lens and capture breathtaking
shots. Using the high-speed "Exmor R" CMOS sensor, the
cameras shoot continuously while you sweep across the scene.
Using the BIONZ imaging processor, they automatically stitch
the pictures together to create one panoramic photo. The
TX1 camera will be available in silver, gray, pink and blue
this September for about US$ 380. The WX1 camera will be
available in black this October for about US$ 350. dpreview.com

Children's Photo Essay
Criticizes Environmental
Problems

The children's photo essay was on display at
Taman Sari in Banda Aceh. This exhibition
was opened on July 29 to commemorate
Children's Day. All of the photos were
taken on Lhok Nga beach in Aceh Besar.
They showed how the stunning beach is
facing complex environmental problems,
as people simultaneously enjoy the place
and contaminate it. Although these photos
are not technically "sophisticated" - as
evidenced in the occasional lack of focus
and clumsy composition - the themes
and messages conveyed go beyond
photographic techniques.
The public exhibition of the children's
photographs was made possible through
support by World Vision, an international
humanitarian foundation. They began
the project with a photography workshop
carried out in each regency. About 40
children from each regency took part in
the workshop, where they were given basic
training in taking photos and the chance to
capture their surroundings through their
camera lenses.
The objective of this event is that
it is important for adults to be aware of
children's presence in society and that
adults must recognize that children’s rights
must be respected and protected. Children
have great potential for the development of
the society, but their right to participate is
often forgotten. thejakartapost.com, acehforum.or.id
