Hunting "Anti-DSLR" Hunting at Kalimas
Perak Harbor
Surabaya FNers brought about a unique hunting on April 18 at
Kalimas Perak Harbor, Surabaya. In this hunting, participants
were allowed to use any kinds of cameras, except DSLRs. More
interestingly, if any of them violated this rule, he/she would be
picking up the tab for everyone or thrown away to Kalimas river.
There were about 20 people gathered at the House of
Sampoerna (HOS) at 2 p.m. After being given free 35mm
and 120mm films, they moved to Kalimas.
Rangefinder, lomo, SLR, and medium format cameras, and also
digital pocket and phone cameras were found in the event. After
hunting for about two hours, they went back to HOS and shared the result. Ragil Setio Pranowo

Body Cameras to Help
Fight Crime
Police officers and council safety wardens
in Renfrewshire will have CCTV cameras
mounted on their uniforms in a bid to
tackle anti-social behaviour. The body
cameras will allow them to record footage
of incidents they attend which can then be
used as evidence. The lightweight device
will be worn on the uniforms of officers and
wardens on patrol on foot and mountain
bikes in known crime trouble spots across
Renfrewshire. The cameras will also provide
protection for officers from false allegations
against them. Councillor Brian Lawson,
Renfrewshire Council's community safety
said the use of the cameras would assist the
wardens in carrying out their duties and lead
to further reduction in crime the community.
The Renfrewshire scheme is thought to be
the first in Scotland where both the police
and community wardens will wear the stateof-
the-art digital cameras. The council has
46 wardens who work in teams of two. One
body-mounted camera will be used per pair.
Officers from Tayside police trialled similar
technology last year. In 2007, officers from
Strathclyde Police were issued with headmounted
cameras as part of a six month
trial. Officers in Lanarkshire were also
given hand-held cameras to film crime and
disorder incidents. news.bbc.co.uk

Photographer of the Year
Sony World Photography
Awards 2009 Announced
David Zimmerman has been announced
as the winner of L'Iris D'Or Award, the
2009 Sony World Photography Awards
Photographer of the Year. Zimmerman
received the award at this year's Sony
World Photography Awards Gala ceremony
in Cannes, France, April 16. The American

some of the world's finest photographers
to win the title, accompanied by a US$

"Desert" hauntingly depicts the American
southwest desert environment as a

awareness, opinion and action.
Bruce Davidson, one of the Jury said in the
era of environmental awareness and image,
both can coexist to give a picture of the
use and abuse of the environment, both
of image and meaning are seen in David’s
work. He admitted that David work makes
them become more aware as humans.
Fellow Judge, Zelda Cheatle, added David’s
work represents skill in photography, an
awareness of the environment and reach
beyond mere pictures of land and sky.
