8 Participants, 8 Days in Vietnam
Arriving at 8 o'clock in the evening at Hanoi Airport, the 8
participants of Canon & Fotografer.net Hunting Series IV were
greeted friendly by the members of Vietnam's Photo.vn. These
people were having a good time hunting in some spots in
North Vietnam, such as Hanoi, Halong Bay, Bac Ha and Sapa.
Though some other registering participants could not attend
this event because of their personal reasons, this hunting event
could be still achieving its well-scheduled and well-impressed
quality time, of course for those who were participating.
Besides Kristupa Saragih and Dodi Sandradi as the coordinator
from Fotografer.net (FN), the other six joining participants
were Hendrick Tomas, Yoyon Nurtjahyo, Rudi Tuahunse, Edy
Erlangga, Rosita H.S. and Tony Aditya.
This event could have never been successfully established
without the support from PT. Datascrip, Jakarta, and also
Phan Tam Long, the administrator of Photo.vn, who always
accompanied the participants from Indonesia, from the first
time they arrived until the last day they spent their time there
(October 21). As a matter of fact, this hunting was the last
edition held in 2009 and the longest one established in FN’s
history for it took place for 8 days. dodi

Nikon D3S: An Upgrade Version of D3
Nikon has unveiled the D3S
professional DSLR. The new
model is an upgrade to the
popular D3. The D3S features
a 12.1 effective megapixel
image sensor. The large
pixel pitch, with a modified
inner structure, means that
the D3S can capture images
under light conditions which
were previously believed to
be impossible. Images are
captured on a new 36 x 23.9 mm CMOS sensor and buffer size
has been increased for 48 RAW frames in one burst. Futher
improvements include a faster contrast detect AF in Live View
and in-camera RAW-processing.
The seven stop ISO range of 200 - 12,800 enables image and
movie capture in extremely low ambient light conditions which
is essential for today's news and sports photographers. Further
proof of the D3S's capacity for low light photography is the fact
that it is the first camera to offer no less than three additional
ISO boost levels, up to Hi-3, (ISO equivalent of an astounding
102,400). The D3S delivers a new look and feel to the
emerging trend of DSLR movie capture and exploits the creative
depth-of-field effects offered by the large FX-format sensor and
the benefits of wide aperture Nikkor lenses.
The D-Movie offers HD quality (1,280 x 720 pixels) Motion-JPEG
movies at 24 fps. By controlling the aperture from the widest
f-stop to the smallest, the large FX-format sensor renders low noise
images with beautiful bokeh effects from a large selection
of Nikkor lenses. The D3S offers three alternative crop modes,
all masked automatically in the viewfinder. The photographer
can now choose from 5:4 (30x24); 1.2x (30x20); and DX
(24x16). In EU, Nikon D3S will be sold for € 4.699. dpreview.com

Fire & Earthquake Would
Never Stop Them

Though they were shocked by the news
that the Kaduketug kampong in Baduy Luar
(Baduy is a traditional community living in
the western part of the Indonesian province
of Banten, near Rangkasbitung, divided
into two sub-groups: the Baduy Dalam or
Inner Baduy and the Baduy Luar or Outer
Baduy –wikipedia.org) was burned down,
finally six FNers from Jakarta, Batam and
Lampung decided that they would not
cancel their schedule to visit the place that
they have been dreaming up. There were
ten people who had registered, but because
of some personal reasons, only six of them
who finally went on the trip on October
17. Through some Baduy Luar villages and
Cikatawarna village in Baduy Dalam, they
finally reached Cibeo, and then they moved
to Ciboleger village, through the Kaduketug
village where the fire burst out. For this,
they were able to capture the disaster
attacking the village.
